The following information will help you care for your contact lenses. . .

Lens Insertion:
*Remember to always wash and rinse your hands thoroughly and dry with a lint free towel.

  1. Remove one of your lenses from the case.  Develop a habit of always handling the same lens first to avoid switching the lenses.

  2. Place the lens on your index finger near the fingertip.
  3. Check to make sure the lens is the right way.  The lens should curve up and make a nice bowl shape.  If the lens is inverted or backwards, the lens will not curl up like a bowl but the lens will flare outwards.  Another method is the "taco" test.  Place the lens in the bend of a finger and bend your finger.  The lens should curl like a taco shell, which would mean the lens is the correct way.  If the lens bends backwards towards your finger the lens is inside out and you will need to invert it.
  4. Inspect the lens for debris or torn edges.

  5. With your opposite hand pull your upper lid up towards your brow.  With the middle finger of the hand with the lens, pull your lower lid down.  With your eyelids held securely and your eye looking straight ahead or upwards, proceed to bring your index finger with the contact lens in towards your eye.  Place the lens against your eye gently.  Once the lens is against your eye remove your finger from contact with the lens, look down slowly and release your eyelids.  Gently close your eye.

  6. Open your eyes and blink.  The lens should be centered on the eye.  Proceed to the opposite eye.

Lens Removal:
*Remember to always wash and rinse your hands thoroughly and dry with a lint free towel.

  1. Fill your clean case with the recommended soaking solution and set aside.

  2. Look up and pull your lower lid down with your middle finger.

  3. Place your index finger on the lens edge and gently slide the lens down to the lower white part of your eye.

  4. Continue to hold the lens down with your finger as you bring your thumb up to touch the lens. Gently squeeze the lens between your thumb and index finger and lift the lens off of the eye.

  5. Follow the recommended cleaning procedure and then proceed to remove and clean the other lens.

**Lastly, always read and follow the manufacturer's directions for the care kit dispensed to you.  If you have any questions regarding the cleaning, care and wear of your lenses, remember to call our office.
